Putting it mildly, my husband is quite the outdoor enthusist, so it doesn’t take much to talk him into going on a day hike, or any hike actually. He recently did a 24 mile loop with some buddies for FUN. It’s possible he is Davy Crockett incarnate… or Bear Grylls long lost brother. (He would prefer to be the brother.)
But I digress…. So, my husband loves to be outside and sadly, while I definitely appreciate nature, I am not nearly in as good of shape as he is. Cardio is not my friend. Fortunately, I have found the answer. If I bring my camera when we go hiking, suddenly there are plenty of opportunities for me to rest (i.e. pant like a crazy person while trying not to hyperventilate) under the ruse of a photographic opportunity. See, we both win.
I am excited to share with you a few of the photos I captured on one of our recent outings.
I love that you can see the spider’s web in this one.
If a tree falls…
I took this shot several times before I thought to tilt the camera just a little. It turned out to be my favorite one. Amazing what a little perspective can do.
This tree fell across the path, and was cut up by the park. I love the details of the cross section. I chose this edit to enhance that. I wanted you to be able to “feel” it though the photo. How’d I do??
Any comments are appreciated! Also, if there is something you haven’t seen and would like to, or something you would like to see more of, PLEASE let me know!
Thanks for reading 🙂
On Sunday I was privileged to be able to photograph three of the most beautiful girls in the world. SERIOUSLY. Collins Hill High School Seniors; Brooke, Rachel and Carly. Brooke is my husband’s first cousin and was sweet enough to organize a Senior Photo Shoot with two of her best friends.
It was so much fun working with you girls!! Between the screaming child, ‘illegally swimming’ in the fountain, and the ferret on the leash, it was quite an experience to say the least.
I hope you LOVE your pictures!! I’ll have more up for you on FB on Thursday, and the disks will be mailed to you ASAP. There are so many awesome ones, it may take me a little longer than usual 🙂
The sun was perfect for this pic. The way it’s giving Carly that soft glow is just awesome.
Fantastic sun flare!
Great close up of Rachel. One of the few times the wind was working to our advantage!
I edited this one a bit… the 2012 we had written on the sign was a little hard to see, so I added a new one.
I muted the colors just a bit here to give it more definition, and a cooler feel.
Love all the bright colors, including those pink converse… They really make the shot.
I removed some of the color from this to put the focus on Brooke’s face.
Thanks for visiting my blog! I would love to hear your comments/questions/suggestions, and please check out my FaceBook page on Thursday when more photos of these beautiful ladies will be posted.
As a follow up to Little Miss Kinsley is 2, this past weekend I was given the opportunity to photograph Kinsley’s second birthday party, which was also at Wills Park in Alpharetta. The weather was wonderful, the company was great and Kinsley was adorable as usual. I mean who wouldn’t want a job where they get to hang out on a beautiful day and eat cupcakes??
Photographing a party is something I’ve always wanted to do, but this was my first opportunity and honestly, it was more difficult than I expected. I’ve done shoots with young children, but with multiple children running around and most adults who don’t want to pose for a photo long enough for said children to smile, here is what we came out with. I hope you enjoy them!
These are just few of the pictures taken that day. More will be shared on Facebook this Thursday.
I think this family shot may be my favorite from the day.
This kid is too cool for school.
Love this one of Kinsley with her Grandmothers and Great-Grandmother
Kinsley with Lily
Kinsley with Grandma
Please visit the Facebook page this Thursday to see more photos from the party. Thanks for taking the time to check out my photos, and Happy Tuesday!
Just got back into town last night from what I’m calling the “Mini Tour of South GA”. My husband and I visited Warm Springs, to tour FDR’s Little White House, then headed farther South to Okefenokee State Park, and finally rounded out the four day weekend in Savannah.
It was a great trip, but getting in around 10PM last night doesn’t leave much time for me to work on editing photos for a Tuesday Blog post. On top of that, my sweet husband just got me Photoshop Elements, which I am trying to simultaneously learn how to use.
So, all that being said, I wanted to share a small sample from this past weekend’s getaway. These are all from our time at Okefenokee and are just a few compared to the 400+ I took over the four days.
He’s smiling right?! More like hissing. This gator was none too happy when our boat got close to his floating ‘house’.
We got really lucky with the weather. It rained all day then suddenly cleared up about an hour before our boat tour. Here is a shot of the sun beginning to peak through.
I love the way the sun reflects in the splash just beyond the water lily.
There were stacks and stacks of kayaks for rent. Love that solar flare peaking over these.
I love the colors in this one. The reflection is amazing… Its a perfect mirror image.
I would love to hear any and all feedback on these! Look for additional photos from Okefenokee this Thursday on the Facebook page.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and Happy Tuesday!!!
